The People’s Democratic Party in Edo State has accused former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Pastor OsagieIze-Iyamu for using INEC officials to rig the governorship election billed to take place in the September 19th, 2020.
Addressing journalists in Benin City, the publicity secretary of the PDP, Chris Nehikhare said the appointment of Dr. Leki as one of the INEC officials by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole will make room for the election to be rigged by the APC.
“Dr. Leki is a friend and brother and the nominee of Comrade Oshiomhole. He is from the same local government area and a card carrying member of the APC before Oshiomhole recommended him to INEC to do a dirty job for him. This is not the first time Dr. Leki is involving in this dirty job.”
“In 2019, he was the one who helped Oshiomhole to write figures in Etsako West to erase the lead that Alj. Atiku Abubakar had over President Buhari; Edo people resisted him. This time, APC started early to turn the election victory to themselves so that they can manipulate the election results.
“These people are not corpers, a situation whereby the of 18 collating officers in the 18 local governments in the state,11 are not corpers. They are personal nominees of Pastor OsagieIze-Iyamu, Oshiomhole and Dr. Leki. We got this information from the people in INEC.
“Dr. Leki and his aides are trying to destroy the reputation of INEC, an independent body but some individuals with Oshiomhole are trying to destroy INEC after he had destroyed the APC. We call on the INEC and Oshiomhole to stay away from INEC building and INEC officials till the end of the election.”
According to the PDP, Oshiomhole is a destroyer who must be stopped to save INEC. He challenged journalists to investigate the matter.
“Whatever Oshiomhole is involved in is to destroy. He has destroyed APC as a party, now he wants to destroy INEC. We reject it and it is not acceptable in a democracy. As press men we want you to go to INEC and do your investigation and see for yourself if those people they claim as corpers are real corpers.
“It is vital that the process that will bring in the next governor of Edo state is done properly. We in the PDP are ready for the election and Edo people are ready for the election. The APC is involving in all sorts of violence and crisis to make INEC postpone the election, they will not succeed”.
He pointed out further that even the Internal Affairs minister is in the clandestine game to rig the coming election.
“Few days ago, the candidate of the APC went to Abuja to see the minister of Interior Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola. This minister is the one posted to Edo State for Commandant for Civil Defense, to help them rig election. The person in charge of the rigging is Oshiomhole.”
“He is also responsible in all the violence, thuggery, assassination and shooting in Edo North, harassing all PDP members. Edo South and Edo Central are peaceful, the only senatorial district that is full of violence, thuggery assassination and shooting is where Oshiomhole comes from, Edo North,” Chris Nehikhare alleged.
