Members of the South South gender for Constitution Reform, GECORN on Tuesday August 8, 2021 women from all six states of the South South converged in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and embarked on a 1000 Women March to bring to public notice, the move by women and gender focused organizations to put to an end issues of sexual abuses and other gender based violence as well as demand for more voices of women to be heard in decision making.
On hand at Aldgate Hotel to receive the details of the changes the women were demanding were the permanent secretary Rivers State Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Uriri, Mr Chinwe Opara, representing the director, National Orientation Agency, Rivers state, Mr Young Ayo Tamuno, Ms. Nwokobia representing the Rivers State Commandent NCDSC and Mrs B. E. Benson, the director Citizen’s Right Desk, Ministry of Justice, representing the perm sec, Mrs Florence Fiberesima.
