Children's Day Celebration:Bayelsa First Lady Assures On More Investments in Education

Wife of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Mrs. Gloria Diri has called on parents, guardians, care-givers and teachers to always imbibe decent and good character into children.

Mrs. Diri gave the charge in her office while addressing students from the Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama, some outstanding students who won the 2020 essay quiz organized as part of activities to mark this year’s Children’s Day celebration and members of Bayelsa branch of the Government Girls Secondary School, Harbour Road, Port Harcourt Alumni Association.

The low-key event marking the 2020 Children’s Day Celebration, was organized by the state Ministry of Women, Children and Social Development in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of Bayelsa State.

The governor’s wife stressed that both girl and boy children were important to the growth of the society and the home front.She called on parents to show love to both female and male children, and to give them equal educational opportunities to help them achieve their dreams in line with the theme of this year’s celebration: “Nigeria of my dream: Making it happen with Technology”.

Bayelsa State first lady gave assurance that the current administration of Consolidation for Prosperity, would make more investments in the education of children in the state, stating that the government will not toil with the future of the young population.

Mrs. Diri after her speech led a team of government officials to visit some sick children at the Federal Medical Center, Diette- Koki Memorial Hospital and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles home for the sick.

She offered them gift items, catered for some of the children’s medical needs and above all organized a prayer session for them.

The wife of the governor thanked Mrs. Aisha Buhari, wife of the president, for her support and love for the Nigerian child and the chief judge of Bayelsa State, Justice (Mrs.) Kate Abiri for her support.
